This song sums up what I was going through during this time.
lyrics
I used a lot of other peoples lines.
The first verse has some standard blues lines, then "Riding with the Ghost" and "Looking Door to Door" is from Songs; Ohia "I've been riding with the ghost" off Magnolia. Haley told me once those lines reminded her of me before I met her.
The second verse, about the weeping willow is my creation. I had the image of my trailer way up in the sky on top of a giant weeping willow swaying quietly in the wind over the town.
The third verse, "where have all the flowers gone" is one of the only songs Pete Seeger wrote, about innocence lost.
Fifth verse, "The blues ain't nothin' but a good woman on your mind" I heard in a Mississippi John Hurt song. "Don't leave me now, I got troubles on my mind" is from the standard "Going down the road feeling bad" blues song that I used to do.

The melody is from "Blues Run the Game" which I became obsessed with around this time. I first heard Nick Drake do it, then Jackson C. Frank who originally wrote and performed it (produced by Paul Simon), then I actually heard Simon and Garfunkel do it and realized the song sounded familiar because I had grown up on S&G. I related to the type of depression. A moaning, desperate, groping for anything depression.
